The factory rear bar on a GQ is plastic. It hangs low, kills departure angle, and the moment you actually use the vehicle it either cracks, fades, or gets bent on something it was never built to handle.

Most blokes put up with it until it gets hit hard enough to force the issue. By then they've usually already bent a corner or cracked a mounting point and the replacement decision makes itself.

This rear tube bar fixes it properly the first time.

Built from 60mm tube, designed specifically for the GQ Patrol. High departure clearance. Clean lines that suit a built rig without looking overdone. Two integrated recovery points rated for real recoveries. Compatible with the factory tow bar — you keep your tow rating without bolting on a separate hitch.

The optional centre-mount tyre swing away keeps your spare where it should be — centred, balanced, and not hanging off one side of the bar fighting the chassis. If you've ever watched a side-mounted spare work loose over corrugations you'll understand why centre mount is the right call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work without a quarter chop?
Yes. This bar is designed to work with or without a quarter chop. If you have chopped quarters it will sit tighter and give you more clearance. If you haven't, it still fits and performs properly.

Will my factory tow bar still fit?
Yes. This bar is designed to retain the factory tow bar. You keep your tow rating without needing a separate aftermarket hitch.

Why centre-mount swing away over side mount?
Side-mounted spares put uneven load on one side of the bar. Over corrugations and rough tracks that load works on the mounting points constantly. Centre mount distributes the weight evenly and keeps the bar working the way it was designed to. It also looks cleaner on a finished build.

Is it road legal?
This bar is a steel replacement rear bumper. It does not affect airbag systems on the GQ. For any compliance questions specific to your state, confirm with your local transport authority or a licensed vehicle modifier.

Can I get it powder coated?
Yes. Powder coating is available on request. Contact us before ordering for a quote based on your colour choice. Raw steel is supplied ready for coating — you can also take it to your own powder coater if you prefer.
